Hello, everyone. Dr. Matt here with Fox Sports. It was a busy week, one in the NFL for injuries, as we had in a week so let's dive into some of the more notable injuries. Starting first with the New Orleans Saints and their outstanding wide receiver, Michael Thomas. He averages about 86 yards of receptions per game and more than 11.2 yards for every reception. Unfortunately, sustained a high ankle sprain, it's important to differentiate between a low ankle sprain and a high ankle sprain. You think all ankle sprains are somewhat the same, but they're really not. Our data shows that for wide receivers, a low ankle sprain, you can come back and do pretty well in about 1.5 to 1.7 games missed on, then come back and return to your pre-injury performance very quickly. However, a high ankle spring almost has twice the amount of time missed on average, about 2.7 games and you don't do as well your first 1 to 2 games back. Especially for a wide receiver. We expected a decline of anywhere from 18 to 22% in his overall performance such as when you're looking at overall receiving yards, overall catches, and overall yards per catch. I know there's a lot of rumblings on social media that he may get back to play, and there's a glimmer of hope for him to get back on the field on Monday night for an important game. However, he didn't practice on Thursday and didn't practice on Friday. High ankle sprain data and information that we have shown that this is highly unlikely that he plays Monday night.Moving on to Amari. Cooper, wide receiver, has been in the league since 2015. He's been battling on and off a left foot injury, going back to almost his rookie season. He clearly retweaked this and reinjured this in Week one. It may have had a little bit of nagging injury going on in the preseason. Amari Cooper was a full participant in Friday's practice and a limited participant in Thursday's practice and is not on the injury report. Cowboys fans, I think you'll see Amari Cooper playing on Sunday. He may be a little bit down in terms of performance. Based on our data, we expect maybe a 5 to 8% decrease in terms of overall yards and receptions based on his foot injury that's been nagging him for the last five-plus years. San Francisco fans, unfortunately, you're not gonna have your star tight end George Kittle for Week two. He sustained a knee spring in his Week one debut at a very good game prior to that, but he did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday in preparation for the week. When we look back at his video certainly looks like he had a knee strain. You might have strained the back of the capsule of the knee or potentially reaggravated a prior meniscus or cartilage injury when George Kittle comes back to the field, which, from our data estimates he is going to miss approximately 1 to 4 games, will likely see for the first two games, anywhere from a 12 to 18% decline in his performance for an average of about a 15% decline. Those first two games we'll be checking in with you all day Sunday and be sure to follow along with us for the best stories, easy to find scores, and comprehensive team pages plus access to every live Fox sports game and exclusive bonus cameras download the all-new Fox Sports App now
